The European Pay Transparency Directive was published some time ago. You may already have read one of our blog posts on this topic. In the meantime, the deadline for transposing this Directive into Belgian law is rapidly approaching. In principle, the Belgian legislator should transpose the provisions of this Directive into national law by 7 June 2026 at the latest. However, no draft text has yet been presented, which means it seems unlikely that this deadline will be met.
That is no reason to wait. Although the Belgian transposition still has to follow, the main outlines of the Pay Transparency Directive are already clear. Employers would therefore do well to critically review their job classification model, remuneration policy, pay criteria and internal processes now.
