Interests of local youth.

Besides her studies, Lauren was also always busy and committed: she was a leader at the girls’ chiro in Balegem, a trainer at the local gymnastics club and ran kindergarten camps during the summer holidays.

After her career with the Chiro, she went to work as secretary at the Youth Council in Oosterzele where she defended the interests of local youth.

During her studies, it soon became clear to her that she was particularly fascinated by the connection between law and people (the psychology of perpetrator and victim, human rights…) and that she wanted to use her knowledge to assist, help and inform people.

So she specialised in Criminal Law and deepened her thesis in the connection between neuroscience and law.

Educational master’s degree

Her social character and her great passion for youth work made her choose, after her studies, to further study the Educational Master’s in Social Sciences- Department of Law so that she could teach legal subjects in secondary education.

During her studies, Lauren completed several internships: from the public prosecutor’s office to law firms, after which she taught law in several secondary schools during her Educational Master’s.

Epicurean

Lauren is also a real bon vivant. In her free time, she loves travelling, discovering new restaurants, and spending time with her friends.

She is most relaxed during her weekly drawing class at the urban art school in Ghent.
