Since 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has been in force in Europe. The GDPR protects the personal data of individuals and ensures that anyone processing this data must always comply with its provisions.

Risks and Penalties

If a company fails to comply with GDPR, it risks attracting the attention of the Data Protection Authority. If serious breaches of the GDPR are found, the Authority can impose sanctions ranging from warnings to financial penalties. Moreover, failure to comply with GDPR can have consequences for the company processing personal data on behalf of other organizations and, of course, for the individuals themselves. For this reason, having a strong GDPR policy is also an asset for a company’s growth, as shown in the case of Unpaid.

Our experts proceeded as follows:

First, they met with Unpaid to review the current status of the GDPR policy and to map out the specific data processing activities Unpaid was conducting, enabling the development of a customized policy. Specifically, our experts conducted a GDPR analysis based on the information received. The entire process was done in constant consultation with Unpaid.

In the end, Unpaid’s GDPR policy consisted of the following:

  • Privacy policy, intended as an internal document detailing the policy extensively;
  • Privacy statement, which could be published on Unpaid’s website;
  • Processing register
  • Retention policy
  • Data breach procedure
  • Subject interaction procedure
  • Data processing agreement

Following this, our Data, Tech & Entertainment team experts assisted Unpaid with the practical implementation of the policy. In line with the GDPR policy, Unpaid needed to implement various technical measures (e.g., IT security, password policies, access procedures, etc.).

This entire project allowed Unpaid to convince its potential client to move forward with a partnership.
